Craft & Connect challenge – Taylored Expressions Layering Stencils

Happy Monday! I hope you had a restful and crafty weekend! I got the rare opportunity to make a few cards this weekend, and again, I reached for my Taylored Expressions layering stencils (obsessed). This set is the Dutch Garden layering stencils.

I thought I’d take inspiration from this month’s Craft & Connect monthly challenge and follow the colour scheme, so I pulled out the following Concord & 9th colours: NectarGrapefruit & Sorbet (pink shades) and Avocado (green).

I used my Taylored Expressions blender brushes, applied the green through the first stencil, then worked my way through all four stencils, using a different shade of pink for each of the petal stencils. The TE stencils have little squares around the edges, so if you line them up on each stencil, you’ll know that your pattern is aligned.

For my first card, I cut my panel down to around 5″ x 3.75″ and added it to a Fog coloured notecard with foam tape. For the second, I ink blended straight on to the card base.

To finish my first card, I heat embossed the “spring greetings” sentiment (from Pretty Pink Posh’s Spring wreath stamp set) on to black card, using my favourite super fine bright white embossing powder. I fussy cut the sentiment and added it with thin foam strips, before finishing the card with some clear enamel dots.

For the second card, I trimmed down two of the sentiments from Simon Says Stamp’s birthday reverse sentiments by CZ design (these are pre-printed strips, so all you need to do is cut them out!), and added them with liquid glue before adding a few pink & green pearls from Picket Fence Studios.

Have you made a card for the challenge yet? You can win a £20 voucher to the My Perfect Stamp store this month, as well as being featured on Craft & Connect’s stories – check out all the details here!
