MFT Stamps sketch challenge

Hey friends, how are you? It’s been sooo long since I took part in an MFT sketch challenge, so I thought it was about time I got back on the horse! I used the Penguins in Paradise stamp set (sorry, I can’t find this in stock anywhere!) to create a scene that fitted in with this week’s sketch, Unfortunately, I didn’t have any oval dies or stencils available, so I used the Inside & Out stitched arch die-namics (omg, this is also out of stock – so sorry), and covered the bottom portion with some patterned paper to give the oval effect.

I ink blended a sky background using Concord and 9th inks – Powder, Harbor and Blueberry. I then glued my white panel with the arch die-cut from it over the ink blended panel, before adding my “sand” at the bottom, using one of the papers from MFT’s Colorful Canvas paper pad.

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut my images and worked out where I wanted to place them. Before adhering them, I stamped the sentiment at the bottom, then added my images with a mix of liquid glue and foam tape, to get a variety of dimensions on the card.

The Copic colours I used were:

Penguin: BV29, BV25, BV23 and C3/C1 for shading, plus R20 for his rosy cheeks

Towel: B99, B97, B95

Palm tree: Y26, Y23 (trunk) and YG95, YG93, YG91 (leaves)

Drink: B01, B000 (glass), RV25, RV23, Y38 (flower), B01 (straw), Y13, Y11 (lemon)

Pom pom garland: B97, B95, RV25, RV23

Do you enjoy challenges? I enjoyed this so much, I went on to make a card for the current Lawn Fawnatics challenge, and I’ll be sharing that shortly. Also, we are running our own challenge over at Craft & Connect! In April, we had a Spring theme and a mood board for inspiration, and this month, we have a sketch challenge – click here for all the details!
