MFT Sketch Challenge

Hey friends, how are you? I’m joining in with another MFT Stamps challenge this week, and this time it’s a sketch challenge (these are my favourite types of challenge!).

I used an older stamp set called Our Story for my card. First, I die cut a heart, then I placed it in my MISTI. I arranged some of the stamps from the set over the heart to create a scene. I stamped the girl on the chair first, then masked the image off, and stamped the boy, the lamp and the shelf behind her, before removing the mask.

I coloured my image with OLO markers, using pink and green shades. I created the lighting from the lampshade by colouring the scene in darker shades of the same colours outside of where the beam of light was hitting the scene, and I added some floral wallpaper in the background. Once my scene was complete, I set it to one side and created my card.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to create a card with an acetate panel at the bottom, so I cut a piece of acetate to 5.5″ x 4.5″, then scored it along the long side, 1/4″ down from the top. I attached the 1/4″ folded part to the back of an A2 white card panel with double sided tape, creating my card.

I then ink blended some Lemongrass ink from Concord and 9th over a piece of cardstock measuring 5.5″ x 2.5″, and repeatedly stamped the pile of books from the stamp set over it in Avocado ink. I used tape runner to attach the panel to the acetate card front, then added a thin strip of pink card underneath. I trimmed down some more white card to adhere to the reverse of the acetate panel to hide the tape runner.

Finally, I stamped my sentiment (from MFT’s Stylish Sentiments stamp set) in Honeysuckle ink, and added it to the scene with liquid glue.

I hope you like my card! There’s a little reel on my Instagram which shows off the acetate portion of the card quite well, if you’d like to check it out just here:

Thanks again for joining me, and I hope to see you soon!
