Hey friends, as promised, I’m back with another blog, trying to catch up on the backlog! It’s siesta time for the family, so let’s do this.

My previous post shared the first card I made for Mama Elephant’s Guest Design search – this is my second. I went with my favourite Celebration Hamsters again, and this time, I made a slider card featuring a little James Bond hamster, complete with bow tie, pinching a piece of birthday cake and making his getaway on a bunch of birthday balloons!
Here’s how I made it:
- I die cut a slimline scalloped frame from white card using dies from Time for Tea Designs;
- I then made a slimline card base from aqua cardstock (measuring 3.5 ” x 8″)
- I used the slimline slider dies (also from Time for Tea) to create a channel in the white panel plus the slider mechanism (for a full tutorial on how I did this, see here: https://carddaysnight.com/2021/05/30/snail-mail-slimline-slider/
- Next I ink blended some Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink onto the white panel, and stamped my sentiment, from Mama Elephant’s “Wishes Enclosed” stamp set. I worked out where each of my hamsters were going to be placed on the card, then stamped the “let’s eat cake” sentiment underneath the balloon hamster, to be revealed as he floats away.
- I stamped, coloured and fussy cut my hamsters using the following Copics:
- Hamsters: YR20, YR24, YR27, C3, C1, C0
- Cake: E50, E51, B02, B00, BG000, B5 (berries)
- Cake stand: C3, C1, C0
- Candles and hats: B05, B02, B00, Y38, Y15
- Balloons: B05, B02, BG000 / YG07, YG03, YG01, BG57, BG23, BG10
- I finished the colouring with some white gel pen highlights, then added some spots and stars with white gel pen to the background.
- I added the cake to the card with a double layer of foam tape, then assembled the balloon hamster onto the slider mechanism as per the tutorial above, adding the finished panel to my aqua card base with foam tape, to give the slider enough room to move up and down.

I hope you find it as amusing as me!
Thanks for stopping by again – looking forward to seeing you again soon!
