Have a Capy Christmas!

Well, when I saw that Mama Elephant had brought out some stamps featuring one of my favourite animals – Capybaras – I snapped them up straight away! Plus, with their little Christmas hats… it’s cuteness overload.

To make my background, I die-cut a large snowflake shape I had in my stash (from a Concord & 9th kit that was part of their Christmas camp a couple of years back), and used it as a stencil/mask of sorts. I placed it toward the bottom of the card, and over the top, I ink blended spun sugar, kitsch flamingo and shaded lilac distress oxides.

I then stamped out my images in an alcohol marker-friendly ink, and coloured them with Copics, before fussy cutting. The colours I used were:

Mug: RV63, RV52, RV000, BV01, BV00, BV000

Capybaras: E43, E42, E41, E40

Hat: RV17, RV14, RV13, C0

Marshmallow: YR000

Hot chocolate: E17, E13

Duck: Y11, Y00

Wafer: E41, E42, E13, E11

Before adding my Capys, I needed to add a sentiment, so I stamped “tis the Season” from Concord and 9th (from the same kit as above), with the sub-sentiment “Capy Holidays” from the ME stamp set. I then popped my Capys on with foam squares, and finished off the card with some iridescent sequins.

Annoyingly, I made a matching envelope by ink blending over the snowflake to the left of the envelope, leaving the area on the right free to write an address. However, my craft room appears to have swallowed the envelope since… Does that ever happen to you? One minute, something is right there, the next….?!

Thanks for stopping by again, and I hope to see you again soon! Have a crafty day!
