I can’t believe that it’s my daughter’s last week in reception class before finishing for summer! Her school has a lovely system where they buddy up the new reception children with a kid in the top year, who can look after them and make them feel settled. Molly absolutely loves her buddy and is going to miss him when he goes to high school this year!

We wanted to make a thank you / good luck card for him with a school theme, so I pulled out the Yuzu School is Cool stamp set from MFT. I was inspired by this week’s MFT sketch challenge, and decided to make a tri-fold card to match the sketch:

On the front of the card, I added some patterned paper from MFT’s Notebook Paper Pad, then cut a 3 inch square piece of red patterned paper from the Colorful Canvas paper pad to add to the top centre. On top of this, I layered a square of white card about 1/8″ smaller on each side, on top of which I’d ink blended some pale blue ink (tumbled glass distress oxide). I then added the school bus I’d stamped, die cut and coloured with Copics I then stamped the sentiment underneath in black ink.

To create the tri-fold card, I glued a second A2 sized card to the inside of the first (so the fold of the second card is on the right hand side). I then added the bus stop sign, the boy and his school stuff, to the middle section of the card, and stamped the sentiment underneath. This leaves the very inside of the card blank to add a nice message.

Are you ready for the summer holidays to start? If you have kids, drop me a comment and let me know what you’ve got planned for the next 6 weeks!
