Adding subtle texture with embossing powder

Hey guys, how are you? I’m delighted to be staying on for another term as part of the Reels team for Wow Embossing! So I thought today would be a good time to share a card I made recently featuring an embossed background.

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I think of embossing, I generally think of sparkle and shine. However, today I used embossing powder more subtly – I heat embossed this background stamp from Concord and 9th in Turkish Coffee from Wow (part of the Ancient Orient Trio). I love the effect this gives – the colour and texture is perfect for the woodgrain stamp, and it’s not “shiny” at all.

I bought the background stamps in the recent Concord & 9th inventory blowout sale, along with these gorgeous hummingbird dies. I die cut the hummingbird in Peacock, Aqua Sky and white cardstock. I added white gel pen detail to the tail, coloured the eye with Sakura black glaze pen, then added a white gel pen dot to the centre.

For the flowers, I used Stardust cardstock, with white blossoms. I assembled my scene on to the embossed panel, then matted it on to some Aqua Sky cardstock to co-ordinate with the hummingbird. To finish, I heat embossed the sentiment on to some black card using super fine white powder, added it with foam tape, then added a few Dew Drops from C9.

|I really do love the subtle embossing and CAS style of this card! What do you think?
