Christmas in July

I am a huge fan of Christmas, and LOVE making Christmas cards, so I was delighted when I found out that Rachelle Anne Miller was doing a Christmas in July release! It’s just the incentive you need sometimes to get cracking on those cards in good time!

I’m sharing a Reel over on Instagram today, showing how I made this card – I’d love it if you came and checked it out.

To start, I printed the Christmas Joy image on to Transotype Perfect Colouring Paper. I didn’t alter the size at all, and it was actually the perfect size for a portrait-orientation card. I decided to pick out some nice festive patterned paper and base my colour scheme around that. The paper I used was from MFT’s Joyful Plaid paper pad.

I die cut an A2 panel with the image at the top and the patterned paper underneath (using my favourite stitched rectangle dies from Pink and Main). I then used Rachelle’s Copic colour chart (which is a free download!) to help me pick colours that matched the colours in the patterned paper, and I used these to colour my fairy lights.

Next up, I coloured my Koala in cool grey shades (C5/C3/C1), and my Kangaroo in light browns E44/E43/E42/E41.

To create the gradient of colour on the word JOY, I started at the bottom with a light pink (RV11), and then flicked upwards with a very pale pink (RV000), fading out to white at the top.

I decided to add a sub-sentiment that co-ordinated with my picture, so I heat embossed “You Light Me Up” from the Festive Friends set by MFT Stamps on to some pale pink card, using super fine white embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment down and added it to the patterned paper with liquid glue.

To finish up, I added Glossy Accents to the light bulbs, to give them a little dimension and shine.

Thanks again for being with me today, I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by!
