Do you love CAS (clean and simple) cards, or are you scared of them? I LOVE them but I find them so hard to pull off! Nonetheless, I decided to give it a go for the MFT Card Design Superstar: CAS Genius category. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to do some no-line colouring on kraft cardstock, despite the fact that I’ve never done it before (and I’ve only used my coloured pencils a couple of times!). Still, I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do, so sometimes you just have to go for it!

I cut a panel of kraft cardstock using MFT’s Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die-Namics, and stamped one of the Yetis from MFT’s Beast Friends stamp set, using Antique Linen distress ink.
I used Arteza coloured pencils to colour the Yeti. I added pale blues and greys to create shadows on the white fur, and some soft pink blush to his pale brown skin. I used a rainbow of colours for the string of lights, then added a soft application of the same colours around the light bulbs, to create a “glow”. I finished the lights with white gel pen highlights.

I added some “ground” with greys, and a pale blue sky with some snow – just a small amount around the Yeti to give it some context, but hopefully little enough to keep it CAS!
To finish, I stamped the sentiment directly below the Yeti, and that was my card done! Very hard to walk away and not add anything else! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
