Magical mermaid birthday

Another weekend, another kids party for my 4 year old!! The birthday girl is big into princesses, so I decided to make her a magical shaker card using the Fairytale Mermaid stamp set by Clearly Besotted, featuring a mermaid that I coloured up like Ariel.

I stamped and coloured the mermaid and other images using Copic markers, before fussy cutting them all out.

I then die cut several frames from the Time for Tea Designs A2 Nesting Frame die set, and glued them together. On the reverse of the top frame, I added some acetate before adding it to the other frames, creating a shaker window.

I poured some Lullaby mix Sequins by Lucy’s Cards into the shaker window, then sealed it by gluing a piece of alcohol ink background I had made previously.

I heat embossed the sentiment and added it with foam tape, then added the mermaid, rocks and seashells with liquid glue.

To finish up the card, I inked up the seashell and the starfish in Sea Glass ink from Concord & 9th, and stamped them freehand over a white card base, before adding my shaker element to the top.

I decided to make a matching envelope, so masked off the envelope flap with Heffy Doodle tape, added some Sea Glass ink with a blender brush, then again stamped the starfish and seashell over the top. I did the same with a stripe masked off at an angle on the front of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you as ever for being here!
