Have you ever seen the Northern Lights? I was lucky enough to catch them in Iceland a few years back and I couldn’t believe I was actually looking at it in person – one to tick off the bucket list!

When I got my new embossing glitters from WOW, the colours reminded me of the Northern Lights, so I thought I’d see if I could recreate it in a card! I picked the Winter Dreams Trio, which is a lovely festive mix that co-ordinates so well. And who doesn’t want a ton of glitter at this time of year?!

I used a small ink dauber to apply WOW’s ultra-slow drying embossing ink in swooshes across the page. First I added the Icicle Teal colour and heat set, then I went in with the Rose Cheeks, adding a small streak to the sky, and a few shooting up from the horizon. I finished off the sky by ink blending Aqua Sky, Peacock and Midnight inks from Concord and 9^th, with my blender brushes.

Next, I made my own snow cardstock by covering a piece of white card in embossing ink, then sprinkling it with Powdered Snow embossing glitter and heat setting. I absolutely love the sparkly snow effect it created!

I used the Slimline Hillside Scene dies from T4T to create the hill shape, and adhered it to the sky background.

I then stamped and coloured the critters from the Life’s Ups and Downs stamp set, toasting their marshmallows over the campfire. I added them to the scene with foam tape (because…dimension!). To finish, I white embossed the sentiment onto black card, trimmed it down and added to the bottom of the scene.

This is the first time I’ve used any embossing glitter, and I do love the impact it creates. I suspect this trio will appear on many more of my Christmas cards this year!
