Zooming by to say…

Happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend. This weekend, I had my first attempt at making a galaxy background, and it was so much fun. I love how something that looks like a complete mess when it’s in progress can actually turn out to look so cool.

To make the galaxy background, I applied patches of various distress oxide inks to some Neenah Classic Crest 80lb cardstock (for this one, I used mermaid lagoon, wilted violet and picked raspberry), then blended around the colourful spots with chipped sapphire. I then blended some black soot around the edges, and lightly over the rest of the card. Once the oxides were dry, I added some spatters of white paint over the top for the stars.

To make it into a card, I stamped out the images from Heffy Doodle’s Spaced Out stamp set (I’ve been wanting a space themed stamp set for ages!) and coloured them with a mix of Copics and Spectrum Noir markers. I actually much prefer the Copics, but will be building up my collection slowly, as it’s such a huge investment!

I fussy cut the images, decided on the layout and before I stuck them down, I added a sentiment with white heat embossing. I then added my images around it using foam tape, and added the finished panel to a 5×7 card base (again, with foam tape, because…. dimension :)).

I hope you like it – I have to say, it’s probably one of my favourite cards I’ve made!
