Happy Tuesday, everyone! How is your week going? I’m feeling a bit more optimistic at the moment, the sun is shining, the vaccine rollout is well underway, and we have a tentative promise of something resembling normality by the end of summer. Good times do (finally) seem to be on the way again!
I’ve definitely overspent on My Favorite Things’ latest release, I just love Rachel Ann Miller’s illustrations. This beautiful little image was calling out to be watercoloured, so I spent a happy hour or so making this card at the weekend.
I used Karin Markers, which I applied directly to my glass craft mat, and then painted on using a watercolour brush. I applied a light layer of each colour first, waited for it to dry, then went in with another layer in the areas where there would be shadows. I repeated this a few times until I was happy with the shading.
The paper I used for this was Aquafine hot press paper, and the image was stamped in Versafine Onyx black (which is waterproof, so won’t smudge when you’re painting).
I love the rainbow palette for the balloons, it’s so cheerful! I added a little highlight to each one with a white Gelli Roll pen.
Once the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment underneath, trimmed the panel down to 3.75″ x 5″ and mounted it onto a top-folding A2 card base using foam tape (the card base is Fog cardstock by Lawn Fawn – definitely my new favourite!).
Thanks for stopping by, as always!
